Awareness Drives

Vikara: The Voice of Change Foundation has conducted several awareness drives on Cyber Safety, Drug Abuse Prevention, Road Safety, and Fundamental Rights and Duties that help the younger generation learn how to stay safe online in a digital world, recognise the dangers of substance use, and understand essential traffic rules. Our drives empower youth through practical sessions focused on digital safety, anti-drug awareness and accident prevention.

1. Cyber Safety and Cybercrime Reporting

Cybercrime involves any unlawful act where a computer or communication device is used to commit or facilitate the commission of crime. With over 86% of households of India connected to the Internet, cybersecurity incidents have increased from 10.29 lakh in 2022 to 22.68 lakh in 2024.

With the help of our cyber safety sessions, we teach students how to recognise online risks, understand basic cyber laws and reporting cybercrimes. Our aim is to help young people understand the importance of a secure digital environment.

2. Drug Abuse Prevention

Drug abuse continues to be a major concern worldwide. Understanding its psychological, social and physical consequences is crucial, especially for young people.

Our anti-drug drives focus on recognising the severity of the multi-faceted implications of substance use, and to educate youngsters about the ill-effects of substance abuse on individuals, families and communities while also teaching early signs of drug misuse in children/teenagers.

3. Road Safety

The number of road accidents in India have increased by 4.2% from 4,61,312 in 2022 to 4,80,583 in 2023, with young people (18-45) accounting for 66.4% cases.

Road accidents in our country have been a persistent issue, causing emotional trauma and financial instability, especially when a family’s earning member is affected.

Our road safety awareness programs educate youth on the importance of following traffic rules. (e.g. using helmets and seatbelts, respecting traffic signals, having a valid driver’s license) By raising awareness, we aim to reduce preventable accidents and promote road safety.

4. Fundamental Rights and Duties

Our Constitution grants every citizen fundamental rights that can not be taken away or violated by anyone, not even by the government of India. Through our awareness drives, we conducted interactive sessions with real life examples explaining rights such as right to equality, right to freedom, right to education and fundamental duties that every citizen must follow.

These sessions helped young people understand how their rights protect them and how their duties strengthen our democracy.
